Information on Large Scale, and Portrait Tattoos

 Cost

I charge $125 per hour, NON-NEGOTIABLE. Large-scale tattoos (5+ hours) take time and are expensive. Full color portrait tattoos may take between 5-7 hours. Black shaded portraits may take 4-6 hours. Half sleeves may take upwards of 15-20 hours in some cases. Please be aware  and able to commit to the expense.

Deposit

I require a $250 deposit (unless otherwise noted) BEFORE I begin the drawing. Your deposit will be applied to the final two hours of the final sitting of your tattoo. If in the event you must cancel an appointment, you will need to make sure and do so at least 24 hours before hand or lose your deposit. At which time you'll need to make another deposit. No calls and no shows forfeit the deposit as well. I have an email, myspace, and facebook that are all checked daily. Please be responsible with your appointments.

Preparation

There is a lot of prep work that goes into a large-scale tattoo. You will need a consultation. I cannot, and will not, be able to draw a large tattoo over night. Some drawings may take several days to one week for it to be completed.

Process

I tattoo many times in layers. This means that multiple sittings may be necessary to achieve the desired results. Please do everything necessary to make the tattooing enjoyable for both of us. Do not stay out late the night before an appointment, make sure you eat a good meal ahead of time, and take care of your skin before the appointment as well as during/after healing.

Timeline

When taking on a large project make sure you have the time and finances to handle the project in a timely manner. Tattooing for an hour at a time can be very frustrating for both of us, as well as causing the over all tattoo process to take longer. Also having large amounts of time in between appointments can cause difficulty in finishing the project to its full potential.

Friends and regulars, these rules apply to you as well. Please do not put either of us in an uncomfortable situation. I have been very nice in the past, and suffered from many cancelations and no shows resulting in hours of drawing and preparation for nothing. It’s a hassle to me and my other clients who want an appointment.

 Thanks

Appointments

There are several ways to set up appointments with me. The easiest being, stopping by the shop. However you may also email me or send a message via myspace or facebook. A deposit is required for all appointments as well as drawings. Make deposits in person in cash, in some cases pay pal can be used for an extra fee.
Healing instructions

Healing out tattoos can be a bit tricky. If you have had good success healing tattoos a certain way in the past feel free to continue in that manner. Otherwise here is a simple method to healing your tattoos...

Leave your wrap on for a MINIMUM of  3 hours, but don't exceed 24 hours. I know you are excited about your new tattoo and want to remove the bandage to show it off, but it will still be there when its time to remove the bandage. Taking off the bandage too early can result in problems with the healing. In most cases I suggest leaving it on until you are ready to go to bed that first night.

After removing the bandage you should wash the tattoo carefully with a mild hand soap: I recommend Dial and warm water. The warm water will open up the pores and allow any elements from the tattooing process to be cleaned out. While the warm water is key to the cleaning process, it is also important to close the pores after cleaning. I suggest running some cool water over the top of your tattoo just before finishing up.

Once your tattoo has been cleaned of all surface elements, pat dry the area, and allow to air dry for approximately 15 - 20 minutes. After the air drying apply a VERY THIN coat of Polysporin. You may blot off any excess ointment with a clean paper towel.

Follow this cleaning regiment a few times a day for about two to three days, just until the tattoo begins to feel hard. The tattoo will then begin to flake off.

After that you will need to continue to wash your tattoo several times daily and apply a non-fragrant lotion: I recommend Lubriderm or something similar.

Of course you will also need to keep the fresh tattoo out of all submerged waters; baths, pools, jacuzzis, the ocean, and all direct sunlight, as well as dirty surroundings.

Your tattoo should be cared for properly. You spent good money on it, as well as your time. Don't waste it by slacking off on the aftercare.
